On April 17, 2018, I posted on Facebook photos from my launch into the fitness world five years ago. On that day, at age 35, my daughter was 13 months. After two different careers- one as a news producer and the other as a counterterrorism analyst- I was embarking on a lifelong dream to be a fitness professional. Through just this post, I heard from countless women who I both have and had trained throughout the years, at a time in their lives when they felt most vulnerable; most challenged; most exhausted; most unsure. New motherhood.
I’m grateful I took a moment out of my day to write that post. In our day to day lives, we are running from one activity/responsibility to the next. Just to do it all again the next day. If you are someone who feels like you are constantly on a hamsters wheel, I hear you. And, I am here for you.
To be the best we could be, we need to be balanced; we need to be centered; we need to be healthy. This comes from our core; not just from our physical core which I talk about a lot in my classes, since a strong core is the cornerstone to both injury prevention and enhanced physical performance. But it also includes our internal core; the core of who we are.
So, what does it take? How- you may ask- can I be true to who I am at THE CORE on a daily basis when I am barely surviving to make it through the day? And yes, there are people in worse situations; you may feel like since you have a loving family/support network, your health, and a roof over your head you should be thankful, content, and of course, not complain. And you should be thankful. But that does not mean you can't want more.
By working together, I guarantee I will get you to a place where your best version of yourself will show up on a consistent basis. From a wellness perspective to start, we will establish a physical fitness routine and healthy nutritional habits that you will be able to commit to, will fit into your life and won’t break your bank. Since we all have our own unique core, this will be entirely catered to you.
So before you say “I’m too busy” or “maybe tomorrow” or “not today”, I urge you to think again. We truly do not know what tomorrow will bring; so today, start taking the steps to be the best you. For you.
